Davy Kelly – A Little Insight Into My World

For a number of reasons I have recently stopped photographing weddings not because I didn’t have any booked or because I wasn’t taking bookings, I was actually taking more booking when I stopped that I was ever before!

Read on after the jump to find out a bit more about why I stopped…

I have a good relationship with God, I believe in Jesus and have a relationship with Him too and that makes me a Christian (as in someone who follows Christ). I believe that Jesus came from Heaven and was made a sacrifice to clear all of our sins makeing it possible for us to have a relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Reading that you may think I’m nuts (I don’t care about that). In the evening on Sunday the 12th of September 2010 God asked me for my Saturdays back. I know that to you it likely sounds a little odd but weddings are generally booked 9-12 months in advance and they were filling up my time way ahead of any thing else and taking priority in my life. I want to give my time first and foremost to what God want’s me to do, the weekends are a key time for outreaches and the like. My wife Sarah and I are increasingly involved with outreaches and these generally take place on a Saturday. The thing is God wants my Saturdays, basically so that I can introduce people to Him.

So anyhow I have put my gear up for sale, downgraded to lesser equipment and stopped shooting weddings, obviously I am still honouring the ones that I have recently done and am not just letting people down! Can you imagine that, I walk up to the happily engaged couple and simply say sorry I can’t do your wedding any more because God has told me not too! That’s not going to go down well with anyone.

Well that’s that, no more weddings for Davyboy, I’ll still be doing the odd shoot now and then and will continue to do charitible work as I see fit but no more weddings now.

    Davy,

You are awesome. I want to honour you for laying down all your hard work to follow what God has pressed on your heart to do. Well done mate.
